Now I'm not talking about that Sci-Fi monster you see below. I'm talking about another kind of troll...
Troll: "A troll is Internet slang for a person who intentionally tries to instigate conflict, hostility, or arguments in an online social community." - Source: GCFGlobal
You know the ones. The person or persons sitting behind a comfy keyboard just trash talking the way you look, sound, dress, wear your makeup, hair etc. It can sometimes be overwhelming and disheartening to have someone constantly talking negatively about you. And it can honestly wear on your mental health.
Your Mental Health.
No one, and I mean NO ONE and no comment should ever affect the way you look at yourself or feel about yourself. You are beautiful and confident.
But if you ever start to feel like the comments from internet trolls are taking a toll on your mental health, talk to you parent, pageant director or any adult you trust. That way it can be taken care of.
Calling on the "Troll Patrol"
So how should YOU handle the trolls on social?
First, decide if you even want to respond. Some comments don't deserve your attention. After 15 years in front of an "audience" trust me when I say some people want you to respond and want to know that what they say hurts you. It's not worth your time, energy or mental health.
I chose not to respond to this viewer comment talking about my weight.
Second, IF you decide to respond, how should you? I always choose the path of professionalism. Remember, you are a brand and you need to represent your brand appropriately.
I decided to respond to this message simply because this person had messaged me numerous times, and I wanted them to know I saw and read the comments.
Here's a perfect example of how I responded to a viewer's comment about me putting my hands in my pockets, and my laugh.
Again, it's a matter of being professional, courteous yet letting them know it's not okay to say negative comments to you.
